  March Tip Of The Month

Feels like spring is finally here!  Remember to set your clocks forward this Saturday night.

Tip #1:  With the weather so beautiful, take a walk around the outside of your house.

- Look at the roof for any missing or broken shingles (spring showers are coming)

- Move your firewood away from the house.  Store it off the ground, so as to not attract termites.

- Look at the foundation of your house.  Fill in any areas where the ground slopes toward the house.  The grade should always be such that water drains away from your house.

- Clean and start your power mower, trimmer, etc.  Do it now, because repair places will be swamped next month.

Tip #2:  Make sure that you have accurate, 100% replacement cost insurance for your home.  If you are underinsured, it could cost you a lot.  Let's say that you have owned your home for many years and it is now worth $300,000, but you still have your original $200,000 insurance policy.  You are one-third underinsured.  If you suffer a $50,000 loss, your carrier will only pay you $33,000.

If you have any questions about completing my tips, e-mail or call me, and I will gladly help you.
